Obtain a BartPE disc and boot the server into the BartPE environment.
1. If the server has a RAID or driver controller card you may need to load the proper drivers. Obtain the necessary drivers and put them on a Floppy or CD. During the initial load into the BartPE environment hit F6 to load the drivers.
Once the server has loaded the environment perform the following:
1. Click the GO tab on the bottom left side of the screen.
2. Go to Programs.
3. Click Password Renew.
Once the Password Renew application loads perform the following:
1. Click Select Target Windows.
2. Under My Computer expand the system drive, and select the system directory and click OK. Generally, this is the C:\ drive and the system directory is typically Windows. However, depending on the history or configuration of the server this may not be the case. If there is no system drive under My Computer you may need to load hard drive controller drivers.
3. Click Renew existing user password.
4. In the Account field select the administrative user. Generally, this is administrator. Under New password type in the password you want to reset to, and type it again into the Confirm password field. Click Install to submit the changes.
Reboot the server, and remove the CD. Once the system loads verify that the changes took and log into the server using the new password.
